As shown in this article, the Island nation of Palau has recently set aside eighty percent of their territorial waters for a marine reserve that is 193,000 square miles is size. This saves twenty percent for local fishermen to use. This giant reserve will prove extremely beneficial for Palau's waters contain extreme amounts of biodiversity and a great resource for study.
In this article we can see that more and more urban populous have begun to finally take notice of the drought and begin to change their lifestyles. This is mostly caused from nagging of neighbors and roommates but people will begrudgingly change do to the increase in risk of water shortages. This increase of risk is mostly caused by Gov. Jerry Brown's statement on how California must cut back on 20% of water usage in California. Hopefully this enthusiasm will spread and everyone will be doing their part to aid California through this drought.
As seen in the article provided, the vaquita, a rare species of porpoise, has been recently sighted despite previous belief to be extinct. Since its discovery in 1958 the population has dwindled due to poaching and fishing which makes this sighting worth all the more.
In this article due to the grizzly's steady increase in population after being added onto the endangered species list it has been talked about being taken off. This is a cause for worry for some environmentalist for grizzly's have always been in danger from poachers and deforestation so once it is removed people may pounce on the grizzly. This species will most likely be removed from federal protection later this year.
